Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Not many people have heard of the Cayman Islands and to be quite frank neither had I before my visit there. My mom received a work award and we got a free 5-day vacation to the Cayman Islands! The Cayman Islands are very beautiful and the activities there are so much fun as well! Like Hawaii, there are several islands in the Cayman Islands, which is a British Overseas territory, but on our trip to the Cayman’s we visited Grand Cayman.

While staying in Grand Cayman we did lots of fun activities! On our first full day in Grand Cayman we did one of my favorite activities and one that I will remember forever. It was going horseback riding on the beach! It was absolutely amazing to ride on the beach while we made our way down the shore! My horse’s name was Chocolate Chip and he was so nice and gentle. We also had the experience of going into the water with our horses bareback. After we rode down the beach for a bit we stopped and anyone who wanted to go horseback riding in the water went in. Riding bareback has always been a dream of mine and the horses were so well trained and it was truly an amazing experience. A lot of people struggled to stay on the horse while bareback, but I had no problems as I just hung onto the horse for the life of me. We did have reins though so we didn’t have to grab onto the mane or anything, but it was such a cool experience.

That night we went to a farm to table restaurant with some of my mom’s colleagues and one of her friends' daughters was around my age and we played outside in the herb garden. We also snacked on some herbs while waiting for our dinner! The next day, my friend and I went stand-up paddleboarding! I had never been stand-up paddleboarding before and I had a lot of fun trying it out in the ocean. It was super calm out so it was the perfect time to try. I wasn't very good at it, but it was fun! Her and I went on and off the paddle boards as we were sometimes actually attempting to paddle board and other times we were just swimming in the ocean and having fun! After paddleboarding, we swam around in the ocean and the pool and just had fun! It was such a fun vacation and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to go! I will keep the memories of this vacation with me forever!
